Interverser Hosting Review

Welcome to Interserver Hosting Review. This review is practically on what people say about the Hosting Company, Of course with this review you will make your Choice.

* “I compared roughly lots of hosting companies when choosing a new host for my personal website. The InterServer was unsurpassed in price, amount of space, and number of email accounts. I was looking specifically for a host with proven excellence in technical support, because I had a poor experience with the previous company I used.

The InterServer quickly provided me with references. I have used their support system quite a bit, and I can tell you that they are responsive, friendly, and patient. I have referred friends who are equally satisfied with the service.

What People say about Interserver Hosting/Interserver Hosting Review.

* Well I did research on internet, trusted excellent reviews about InterServer on several websites and bought their Managed VPS (4 slices). Either these websites fooling people around with fake reviews or they are being fooled by InterServer with paid reviews.

Till 4th day after the subscription, I already had generated dozens of support tickets without adding a single domain.

My issue was Webuzo Free control panel which they are unable to configure on my VPS. I added support ticket, they fixed it and after sometime it went down again. Support was good but incompetent as issue was occurring again and again especially with control panel where you manage your files, emails and other important things is quite annoying and disturbing.

So I asked for refund on my 3rd day but answer was “No Refund Policy on VPS” with a straight face that made me think of their dollar hungry mindset. May be they wanted me to subscribe for paid cPanel by not configuring Webuzo panel properly. What else it could be…?

As I was stuck with them for a month so I thought of posting the same review with a bit of changes on another website where they had 92% of excellent reviews on 4th day so that they may improve their support but instead they got offended and canceled my VPS subscription without any prior notification and told me that we have refunded your payment which is still not reflecting on my credit card account.

I couldn’t remove or take backup of my VALUABLE DATA that I uploaded and they are not telling either what they will do with my data. They didn’t even wait for the refund process to be completed.
Instead of improving their services, they turned their back, get offended by a statement and showed how courage-less and ethically ill they are. I would have taken my words back if my issue was resolved.

They had 26 days to rectify the issue. I would have loved to give them 5 stars and continued my subscription if I was satisfied but now I will say that DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED

I will suggest Mike Lavrik & John Quaglieri to spend some bucks on raising competence of their support team. This will add huge value to their business.

* I thank this company for their great technical support and patience in solving my problems, especially Hari, a wonderful person , Quick response, continuous work, and creative solutions.

* They got me and I’m sticking on them… I have regular web hosting and Reseller Account. I have been to few hosting but there is none compared to Interserver. I started my business and Im growing business with them. I have all the flexibility but most of all the excellent support.

* Interserver gives you best service. The support staf is very good and they are very helpful and ready to help you anytime. The migration team was vry good and have good service on time.

How to Connect a Domain and Install WordPress

I’ll let you in on a little secret. InterServer uses cPanel and Softaculous, so if you’ve had experience with this combination before, you’ll have no problem with the process. If you haven’t, you’re in for a treat.

Step One: Log Into Your Admin

The first step is to log into your admin. If you’re not sure about your login details, you can find them in your welcome email. Once you’re inside the rather retro-looking admin panel, you can begin to set up WordPress installation.

Step Two: Enter the cPanel

Since InterServer includes cPanel access and Softaculous, the process is simple and easy to navigate. First, scroll down the bottom of the main page in the admin and select Login to cPanel.

Step Three: Enter the One-Click Installer

Once you’re inside the cPanel, scroll down to Software and select Softaculous Apps Installer. This is where all the programs included in the one-click installer can be configured.

Step Four: Select WordPress

From the Top Scripts section, hit WordPress. It’s right at the top, so it’s hard to miss.

Installing WordPress using Softaculous is simple. Hit Install Now and then follow the series of on-screen prompts to complete the install.

Step Six: Choose Quick Install

When you’re installing WordPress, you can choose from Quick Install (recommended) or Custom InstallI highly recommend opting for the quick install, especially if you’re a newer website owner.

Step Seven: Wait for the Installation to Complete

Once you hit Install, all you need to do is wait. It took less than 60 seconds for me.

Step Eight: Map Your Domain to

If you’ve purchased a domain from InterServer, you can skip this step. However, if you’re using one of your own, you need to map the domain over to before you can access your WordPress installation.

In your welcome email, you’ll find the nameserver information for InterServer. Like the signup process, the welcome emails are functional and include the information you need, but they are not overly pretty.

Nor are there any instructions, which may be confusing for some website owners. Basically, you need to head over to your domain registrar and update the nameservers to the ones provided by InterServer.

Step Nine: Install Cloudflare CDN

The hosting packages come with a free Cloudflare content delivery network (CDN), and it’s easy to install. Head back to the cPanel, scroll down to Software, and select Cloudflare. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an account with Cloudflare.

It only takes a minute or two, and once it’s complete, you will see an on-screen message stating Cloudflare Active.

Fast, Easy, but Not Pretty

The whole process was quick and easy, taking less than 10 minutes in total. It’s not an overly beautiful interface, but that’s largely thanks to cPanel and Softaculous. There’s little to no help documentation in the welcome emails, but if you get stuck along the way, you can easily hop on live chat.

The Pros of InterServer

Despite its relative lack of popularity, InterServer provides certain features that I’d like to see more often in the hosting industry. Here are the company’s main strengths.

1. Price Lock Guarantee

InterServer is extremely transparent about its pricing. So much so that it becomes one of the major selling points of the company.

In all fairness, it can hardly be otherwise. InterServer promises the same price for as long as you continue using its services. If you start with $5 per month, then you’ll be paying the same 10 or 20 years down the road.

How awesome is that?

Honestly, I was genuinely surprised that this was not the main talking point of all InterServer customer reviews I went through while researching the company.

It’s brilliant!

2. Tight Security

Security is a topic you see over and over at The site of the company might need some tidying up, but the fact that security is taken seriously is undisputed.

InterServer offers some unique security features.

For starters, the company has a proprietary defense tool called InterShield. It maintains a database of bad IPs and blocks automatically access requests from them. InterShield blocks all known hacking strings and also scans any uploaded content to ensure its integrity.

Neat, eh?

That’s not all.

All data is stored on RAID-10 disks.

That’s not all either.

3. Great Infrastructure

InsterService has been built from the ground up by its two creators, who seem to be moved by their love for technology and quality service rather than tricky marketing and maximizing profits.

I am saying this based on the fact that InterServer has no less than four data centers with some impressive specs and network to match them.

For comparison, the massive HostGator has two, as you can find out in our detailed review.

Three of the InterServer data centers are located in the state of New York, while the fourth is in Los Angeles. In other words, the coverage they provide is excellent for US-based customers.

All data centers are connected through 10 Gbps Tier 1 networks and rely on heavy-duty infrastructure from Cisco, Riverstone, and Extreme Networks. Smart BGPv4 routing ensures redundancy and speed throughout, making the InterServer data centers highly accessible and secure.

4. Guaranteed Email Delivery

One of the major downsides of using a shared server is the harm it can do to your emails. All it takes is one idiot on the server to start spamming and then all IP addresses get compromised.

Suddenly, emails sent to good ole recipients end up in spam folders or are blacklisted altogether.

InterServer claims to have found a solution to this. I say “claims” because I am yet to devise a reliable way to test this, but what InterServer has created seems like a legit solution to the issue.

Working together with spam vigilantes, the company checks proactively spam signatures to prevent spam from ever being sent. If efficient, this technology would increase the health of the outbound mail server and company-wide.

Overall, it sounds like an excellent solution to a perennial problem that plagues the internet as a whole.

5. Free Migrations

InterServer migrates sites for free toward its cPanel servers, but the company creates additional value for its new customers. Every migrated site is examined thoroughly for malware and if something awry is detected is cleaned manually.

6. Free Weekly Backups

I count backups as an additional security feature, as they can come to the rescue when all other means have failed.

InterServer provides regular weekly backups. That’s not so spectacular in itself but the fact that you access them easily through the cPanel interface makes them a pretty decent service.

7. Optimized for WordPress

InterServer has managed a WordPress platform, but that’s a story for another time. I am still maintaining my WordPress case study and am planning to add a dedicated InterServer WordPress review to it in the near future.

For the time being, though, let me tell you that InterServer will update WordPress automatically for you. It is an awesome perk that enhances security and saves plenty of time. WordPress is updated several times per year, after all.

8. Abundant Free Scripts

Do you remember how I was rendered speechless by the infinite apps InMotion Hosting offers? Well, it seems that it found its match in the face of InterServer, which has over 450 apps waiting to be installed.

That’s a LOT of free scripts!

And we are talking only about Linux hosting here. InterServer offers a fully functional Windows hosting platform, too, and it has more than 150 as well.

9. Prorated Refunds

InterServer has the standard 30-day money-back guarantee but prepaying customers are covered further. If you decide to cancel the service midway through its term, you can contact billing and ask for a refund for the remainder of the period.

Generally, your request will be approved. As long as you have stayed within the terms of service, you will get your money back.

That’s pretty sweet, especially coupled with the price lock guarantee. I must say that the guys behind InterServer put their money where their mouth is and really aspire to provide an honest and straightforward service.

10. Room to Grow

Interserveris among the leading VPS providers and it also has affordable dedicated servers. Its spectacular performance and developer-friendly tools make it a great place to scale up your online project with a remarkable ease.

11. Excellent Reputation

Interserver provides top-quality hosting and customer service and rightfully deserves the praise of end-users. The glowing Interserver reviews on Trustpilot and Hostadvice are abundant and wax lyrical, praising support, speed, uptime, and the fair pricing policy.

The negative reviews are few and far between and complain about the same things.

The Cons of InterServer

However many merits it may have, Inter Server is not perfect. The company has its flaws. They aren’t super glaring or particularly hindering but definitely put a dent in the end-user experience.

1. Poor Website

If this was an review, it would have ended up being quite negative. The site of the company is not the worst web page I’ve seen, but as far as web hosts go it is not far from the bottom of the list.

The site navigation is OK-ish but I can’t shake the feeling that things are way too cluttered.

Another thing that bothered me immensely is the many typos and the general formatting Bacchanalia.

I didn’t choose the grammar Nazi life, the grammar Nazi chose me. But still.

If you never read an InterServer review in your life and simply visited the company’s website, you’d probably navigate away before realizing the other qualities of the service.

I mean, the website is the face of the company. Leaving it in disarray or simply below par betrays sloppiness. Luckily, I know better than judging a book by its cover.

All the same, I hope the company addresses the issue and polishes its website.

2. Confusing Customer Area

The InterServer login area is not that bad, but it inherits some of the drawbacks of the main webpage. It can come off as cluttered, with way too many options presented at the main navigation bar. Then, most of them are empty by default.

Additionally, not all controls function well.

For instance, there is a button to download your backups. I fully expected a downloadable file to be at my mercy upon pressing it but nothing like this happened. Actually, nothing happened. There was no list of files, zipped or not, to download. Just a blank screen.

I promptly checked with the support team where my backups were. Turned out, the backups exist (phew!) but they are firmly lodged within cPanel. Which is fine, cPanel is good at keeping file copies.

But why would you have a “Download backups” button then?

InterServer Hosting Plans at a Glance

Well, the subheading is a bit misleading. Because InterServer, just like iPage, is one of these weird hosting providers that create a single shared plan. At least here it makes sense because the InterServer VPS and dedicated solutions are very respectable.
